Teen Programs

Camp SEA Lab offers programs for teens ages 13-16 that promote individual growth and supports community building. Teens gain personal power and increase self-esteem while developing deep and lasting friendships. Teens from all walks of life come together to try new things, increase their ocean knowledge, and create memories to last a lifetime. Every teen receives a camp T-shirt free with tuition!

Keepers of the Coast

Love the ocean?  Join us for this marine ecology, conservation and career-packed week! Surf, kayak and tour research centers around the bay including both the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute to learn about different conservation efforts and careers. Embrace your inner scientist as we conduct tidepool-monitoring projects and set sail to explore the bay. This field-oriented, life-changing experience will provide you with the information you need to take personal action focused on ocean conservation. Teens must be able to swim.

Activities: Sunset kayaking, tidepool monitoring project, surfing, boat trip, visit to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, meeting with conservation researchers and advocates

Registration limited to 24 teens

Voyage Seaward

Climb aboard the Seaward, a classic 82' schooner, and make it your home while we sail along the magnificent Central California coastline! During this 5 day ocean-going adventure with a professional captain and crew, you will be part of a team learning to sail a traditional ship. As a sailing Mate,  you will learn about maritime lore, as well as exploring physical oceanography, bay and coastal marine ecology through plankton tows and water sampling experiments. Your confidence, teamwork, and leadership abilities will grow as you develop skills and knowledge of the sea and sailing! Experience what it’s like to sleep at sea and really get to know the ocean in its various moods and moments.

Depart/Return: Boat departs Sausalito and returns to Monterey Harbor (departure shuttle from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Jose available at no additional costs)

Session 2: July 1-5
Time: Sunday 10:00am - Thursday 11:00am
Depart/Return: Boat departs and returns to the Monterey Harbor (This special cruise focuses on the many marine mammals, seabirds and other life living in Monterey Bay.  As you cross the species-rich bay to the many interesting spots along our coast, you will be able to observe the behavior and adaptations of whales, sea otters, dolphins, seals, and sea lions.)

Session 3: July 22-26 (Waitlist only)
Time: Sunday 10:00am - Thursday 11:00am
Depart/Return: Boat departs Sausalito and returns to Monterey Harbor (departure shuttle from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Jose available at no additional costs)
